Food Quality Label Tunisia was launched in 2014 by the Tunisian State. The label, which is found on Tunisian Harissa cans, is a guarantee of the origin of the product, its traditional recipe and the quality and freshness of its ingredients.

The logo of the label, inspired by an ancient Tunisian coin, shows a smiling sun and invites to discover the warm Tunisian culture.

Companies of canned Harissa adhering to Food Quality Label Tunisia must comply with the specifications and undergo a reviewing process by the Association of Canned Food Industries (GICA, Groupement des Industries de Conserves Alimentaires) as well as an external certification body.

Znaidi Food Industries is currently preparing to flag its Harissa products with Food Quality Label Tunisia. This decision comes after detecting the presence of multiple foreign products in North Africa, the Middle-East, Europe, the U.S. and Canada that copy or imitate the Tunisian Harissa.

Food Quality Label Tunisia was developed by the Ministry of Industry, in collaboration with GICA, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO Switzerland and UNIDO (PAMPAT project).
